Democracy Between the Lines:
Uneven Local Accountability in Latin America
Dr. Ashlea Rundlett presenting
Ashlea Rundlett is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Rhode Island, where she teaches courses on democratic backsliding, research methods, and Latin American politics. Her research on democratic governance, corruption, and political participation has appeared in several top peer-reviewed journals including the American Political Science Review. She is also co-author of the forthcoming book Science and the Study of Human Rights (SUNY Press), which takes a data-driven approach to understanding global rights protections. Dr. Rundlett recently joined the leadership team of the Rhode Island Survey Initiative, where she helps oversee statewide polling and research on public opinion. She is also active in civic engagement on campus, including co-organizing the 2024 URI Honors Colloquium, “Democracy in Peril.” She earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
